Custom Made Furniture

• I would be more then happy to design and build a custom piece of furniture or cabinets to the specification of the client. 
  

• What is it the client wants to have custom built?
  

• I find communication is quite important at this step in the process and crucial to attaining an understanding what each of us will bring to the table, so that we are on the same page.  My utmost attention to this process is what will inevitability help me to design and to craft a piece that the client will be happy and proud to own and will be willing to purchase for the agreed upon price.
  

• Once the client has established what it is they want handcrafted.  I will work up a drawing with a list of materials and costs as well as labor cost.  (Note: I do not charge for this step in the process.)  I do not have a professional background in design and drafting (CAD), so the detail on the drawings will depend on the project and the skills to craft the piece.
  

• Next, I will have a written agreement which states the materials needed to complete the project, the labor costs, and it will have a time schedule, so the client knows when to expect the piece to be completed.  I will also require a thirty percent (30%) deposit before I start work on the project and a signature on the agreement. 
  

• Final, I will keep the client up-to-date as to the progress of the project and if any issues that could delay the project by the completion date.  If everything is on schedule I will deliver piece to customer in a fifty-mile radius of Madison, Wisconsin free of charge on items that cost over $1000.00.  I will delivery beyond the fifty-mile radius in Wisconsin, but an additional charge will be applied to the bill, which will be calculated and quoted to customer and agreed upon before delivery.  The client will inspect piece for craftsmanship as well as any thing they may have questions on at the time of delivery.  I will then receive final payment with shipping cost if applicable and give customer a receipt.
  

All custom pieces are covered for one year after date of delivery against defects that are do to craftsmanship.

Fine Woodworking, One Piece at a Time!

I first was introduced to woodworking in high school seventeen years ago.  Although I have not constructed fine furniture for the last seventeen years, I have done numerous woodworking projects that include: building residential homes, installing kitchen cabinets, building vanities, custom raised panel doors, and installing trim in houses.  I have self-taught myself woodworking techniques by reading (Taunton’s Fine Woodworking magazine and numerous books on woodworking) and with hands on experience.   I have continued to hone my skills and my woodworking techniques with each project.    The website although a great innovation and medium to market my fine furniture does not do the pieces justice.  I have talked with people that prefer to see the item they are buying in person, so they can inspect and assess the quality of craftsmanship as well as the detailed design characteristics.  I do not at this time have any of my pieces in galleries or showrooms, but I have been working on trying to do more quality fine art fairs in the Wisconsin area or even the surrounding states.  I will post these events to this website that I will be attending in the future.
